How to view Windows Outlook .msg file?

In Outlook web app

1. “New message”
2. Drag & Drop your .msg file to add it as attachment
3. Click your attached .msg file in Outlook web app to view it (“Preview”)

[Alternative: Double click your .msg file in Windows via WTS (Citrix Workspace app). In Windows File Explorer your Mac home folder is located under: \\Client\H$]

2nd Alternative: Mail it to yourself. Only in Mac Outlook it will then received as .eml file, which Mac Outlook and Apple Mail can open. The question is: Microsoft integrated an on the fly converter from .msg to .eml into Mac Outlook. Why the heck does they not provide a way to open a .msg file? File » Open » On My Mac only accepts .eml files.

Microsoft should switch from their proprietary .msg format to the open standard .eml format, as default, which is supported by most other mail clients.

3rd Alternative: Buy Letter Opener (50 Euro per year), MSG Viewer for Outlook (20 Euro), MailRaider (5 Euro) or Klammer (4 Euro).
